This annual trip of ours to our favorite mega consignment store was different in a way we could have never imagined. A friend of Vessel's, Orlando Lara, passed away in a car accident the morning we made plans to go to Chattanooga for this day trip. He wasn't actually able to attend the event because he had a co-worker's funeral to go to that day. Little did he know, his funeral would begin preparations that day as well.
Orlando Lara was a member of Vessel and newly saved Christian. He loved having fun and meeting new people. Those loves led to his salvation. We decided that day when we gathered together, and I informed our group of what had happened, and that we would still go to McKay's. He loved McKay's and loved to be the topic of discussion; so we took our trip and over dinner, we talked about how Orlando had encouraged each of us as part of the body of Christ.
It was a sad but beautiful day. We look forward to seeing our brother again one day in eternity. What the enemy meant for evil God used for good. Hallelujah and Amen!
