Vessel Ministry Community Service | Young Adult Christian Group in North Georgia and Western North Carolina
Our crew stripped and repaired a roof that was caving in.

This quarter, we had to take a pause due to some unfortunate circumstances that happened to two of our project leaders. Please pray for them as they navigate through difficult times. Aside from that, we were able to complete three service projects.

The first two projects were helping an elderly couple who are living in very difficult circumstances. She is bedridden, and her husband is blind. They are so kind and have spent much of their lives serving others. Her husband poured his heart out to me over the phone when we first discussed setting these two projects up. He felt that for all the service to the Lord and others he had done, he had been forgotten. It was a moment of weakness and despair, as obligations in their home were piling up, and he felt completely helpless. Before he was blind, he was a hard worker, serving his family and those around him constantly. Since losing his eyesight, he felt trapped, backed into a corner, and alone. I assured him that he wasn't and encouraged him, which gave him hope. As an extension of God's grace towards others, we took on both of his projects. God doesn't forget his people, and our service is based on His service, not just on the cross, but for all of time to all of His people.

For these projects, we built a wheelchair ramp and fixed/renovated a bathroom floor that was caving in. The bathroom was a particular challenge that others had passed on. You can imagine why it was a challenge, considering a blind man, a bedridden woman, and a family of six were living there at one point. With these two projects completed, this elderly couple are not only much safer, but also encouraged in the Lord.

The last project for the quarter was fixing my parents' roof, which was starting to cave in. While my parents wouldn't normally qualify for a service project, they have served and supported Vessel ministry since it began, nearly 14 years ago. They have donated, prayed, opened their home to various events, and even let several young adults live with them when they were down and out.

A group of our guys stripped the roof, prepped it, and replaced it within a week. They busted their butts and had to drive pretty far to get to my parents who live in Hayesville, North Carolina. Most of the crew lives in Blue Ridge. My parents were so moved by their service that they wrote them cards and gave them little gifts inside each one.

Although this was a slower quarter, the Lord still blessed the works of our hands. New challenges mean tested faith for God's people. What an honor that we may be tested for the genuineness of our faith as this mirrors the testing our Lord Jesus underwent for the sake of all of God's people! Blessings!
